Foundation Skills

All Puppies work on these skills.

As puppies master the Foundation Skills, they then progress to our different levels of training.
Level One Training

  • Focus

    • Stationary​

    • Moving

    • On-leash Outside

  • Confidence on Surfaces

  • Begin Loose Leash Walking 

  • Lay down on a mat

  • Back away from food in hand

  • Social skills

  • Problem solving skills

  • Quiet crate behavior

  • Socialization with people

  • Socialization with dogs

  • Come with minor distractions

  • Sit and down

Level Two Training

  • Any skills not yet mastered from Level One

  • Loose Leash Walking

  • Focus around distractions

  • Relax on a mat

  • Table manners

  • Back away from food on floor

  • Polite Greetings

  • Come while playing with dogs

  • Advanced versions of:

    • Confidence on surfaces​

    • Social Skills

    • Problem Solving

    • Body Awareness

    • Crating

Level Three Training

  • Any skills not yet mastered from Level Two

  • Loose Leash Walking with Distractions

  • Mat Stay with:

    • Duration​

    • Distraction

    • Distance

  • Back away from dropped food

  • Husbandry behaviors

    • Nail trims​ and grooming

    • Vet exam skills

  • Door Waits

  • Stays

  • Come with food distractions

Once a puppy has mastered these behaviors, they graduate to working on our Advanced Skills. These skills are selected based on your goals.
Advanced Skills Training

  • Further proofing of Levels 1-3

  • Fading treats

  • Increased distractions

  • Reliability off-leash

  • Owner specific goals

  • Sports foundations

  • Tricks

  • Strength and Conditioning

  • Specific problem behaviors
